For over 53 years A & H Art & Stained Glass Co. has been continuing an art form that started over a thousand years ago. It is an art form that has predominantly adorned places of worship yet in the early to mid-nineteenth century it began to invade homes, commercial businesses and institutions throughout America and Europe. Today this studio has

the honor to continue this timeless form of art and the artisans here strive with their heart and soul to provide the same satisfaction and quality in our commissions now as in the beginning.

This studio was originally founded in early 1950 and was purchased by William D. Houpe in 1960. During his ownership in the mid-sixties a young boy started earning extra summer money by sweeping the floor and being the “ gopher” for everyone. From that boy to a young man to an alumni of Appalachian State University to the President of A & H Art & Stained Glass when purchased in 1982, Mr. Steve Haynes has poured out nearly forty years of love, passion and sweat to a career in the art of stained glass. Over time it has become a family business and in the last decade his wife Cathy and son Christopher have both joined him in the business. Christopher who possesses the same love for this art as his father has joined with a passion in designing stained glass windows.

Our studio is much more than just a manufacturer of a product. It is a closely knit fabric of artists, designers and craftsmen who are more like family than co-workers.
